Longridge CC claimed their first victory in six Moore and Smalley Palace Shield outings with victory against Croston.

After winning the toss and asking their hosts to bat first, Longridge dismissed Croston for 121.

Jonathan Millward led the Longridge attack, claiming 4-32, while Ian Simpson chipped in with figures of 3-26.

Stephen Langton top-scored for Croston with 33, while Ian Dickinson added another 30.

In reply, Longridge lost John Simpson without scoring but a partnership of 80 from Tom Howarth (30) and Luke Platt (58) provided the platform for Longridge’s replay of 125-4.

The seconds recorded an emphatic 243-run win against White Coppice.

Joe Livesey (0) was out early but Vinny Wilkinson (68), Ian Barton (111) and Matt Joyce (52 not out) took them to 272-3.

White Coppice were all out for 29 in reply with Dharmesh Patel taking 5-18.

The thirds lost by 12 runs as they were all out for 86 in reply to Whittle and Clayton-le-Woods’ 98 all out.

There was also a defeat for the fourths as they were 112 all out in reply to Great Eccleston’s 151-2 in which Edward Thistlethwaite top-scored with 85 not out.
