Inside one issue of this weeks Clitheroe Advertiser and Times is a “Golden Ticket” which gives the lucky winner the privilege of setting fire to the town’s bonfire – and a load of guys!

“Take another look and see if you’re this year’s winner,” said Andy Belcham, chairman of Clitheroe Community Bonfire Committee. “All the details are on the ticket, so get in touch with us straightaway and claim your prize! And don’t despair if not – we’ll be printing another ticket in next week’s Advertiser for the chance to light our firework display.”

The Bonfire is to be held on Saturday, November 7th, from 6 pm and with only four weeks to go the organisers are gearing up to organise one of the town’s largest fundraising events of the year.

The instantly-recognisable orange signs have gone up this week prompting people with details of the event and tickets are now on sale. Priced £5 for adults, £2 for children and £10 for a family (two adults and two children), the tickets can be found at various outlets around the town, including Dawsons, Banana News and PJ Brass Newsagent.

“Our ticket outlets are not taking any form of commission from any sales,” added Andy. “Without their support, these events cannot take place and we are extremely grateful that they have agreed to help us.”

New for 2015, is an online ticketing system allowing the public to purchase their tickets in advance by following the link to tickettailor on the bonfire Facebook page:

Each year, thousands of pounds are raised through the event and donated to three local charities – East Lancs Hospice, Ribble Valley Crossroads Care and Ribble Valley Foodbank - and the event is widely supported by members of Clitheroe’s many charity organisations including Pendle View Rotary Club, Clitheroe Lions, Clitheroe Rotary, Ribblesdale Rotary and Clitheroe Round Table.
