These pouting bad boys - see picture - mean only one thing.
Grease is back. And it promises to be as electrifying as ever.
If Grease the Musical is the one that you want it opens tonight at Blackpool’s Grand Theatre.
It’s performed by Blackpool and Fylde Light Opera Company in testament to the great talent to be found across Blackpool and the Fylde - and the Grand’s key work in encouraging links with the local community.
Sandy and Danny are back in the original high school musical, bursting with everyone’s favourite songs, non-stop dance routines and stunning 1950s costumes.
For the handful of people on the Fylde coast who have no idea what all the fuss is about - here’s a quick recap...
It all shows the wealth of talent within the local community
After a summer fling with super-cool Danny, good girl Sandy starts her new school Rydell High only to discover Danny isn’t the boy she thought he was.
Now he must decide whether he’s going to shape up, and Sandy must consider whether he really is the one that she wants - which, naturally, calls for an entire image overhaul and a lot of leather added to her wardrobe. Ho-hum.
Blackpool and Fylde Light Opera Company are renowned for such highly acclaimed performances of Sister Act (2013), Hairspray (2015) and Legally Blonde (2015).
Their performance comes hot on the heels of Poulton Drama hitting the big time - and the small screen - by performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company in a Play for the Nation Midsummer Night’s Dream.
“It all shows the wealth of talent within the local community.
A Grand Theatre spokesman said: “We couldn’t be happier to welcome back BFLOC to The Grand.
“Grease is one of the best-loved musicals of all time, and it is set to be packed with all the explosive energy, lively dance routines and spectacular singing of their previous shows.
“We hope as many people as possible will turn out to see them in action.”
Grease runs from tonight to Saturday nightly at 7.30pm with matinees tomorrow and Saturday at 2pm.
Tickets £18 to £20 (under 18s £14, seniors £17).
