Rehearsals are underway for the Whitechapel Players’ latest production; Jane Hill and Diane Oldfield are directing Amanda Whittington’s ‘Ladies Day’.

Four fed-up fish filleting friends find something different to do to mark the occasion of the leaving of one of the girls.

The play takes place the year Ascot came to York. Chancing their luck on Ladies’ Day the women put on their glad rags and transform themselves into high society socialites.

Producer Julie Cowell also plays doting mum Jan whose best friend Pearl (Julie Ann Davies) decides to treat her workmates. Wannabe WAG Shelley (Jozanda Parkinson) and Tony Christie fanatic Linda (Rachel Quick) make up the fab foursome.

The men are played by regulars Pete O’Reilly, Peter Worthington and Simon Haley, joined by Glyn Davies and Luke Webster.

The play runs from November 11-14 at 7.30pm and is not suitable for under 12s. Tickets available from Jane Heaton at or call 01772 654371 or 07974818419.
