Longridge Folk Club welcomes Lancaster based folk group Hard Times for a much anticipated return visit on Tuesday, October 18.

Member Gordon Johnston is one of those musicians who can play most anything with strings attached, the main one in this group being a five- string banjo, played to a level unsurpassed in this part of the world.

Gordon is also an excellent guitarist and mandolin player and plays tenor (Irish) banjo equally well.

Laurie is the band’s main vocalist, also playing flute, whistle, guitar, mandolin. He is also the ‘front man’ and presents the shows with good humour, informative anecdotes and musical excellence.

The folk club meets at Longridge Sports and Social Club, (ex Legion), Towneley Road, Longridge at 8.30pm on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, the first Tuesday welcoming anyone who wants to play to an appreciative audience, the third Tuesday being for guest artists.
