New scores will accompany the screening of two silent films at The Dukes Cinema during Lancaster Music Festival next week.

Lee Affen and Ric Smithson, who recently performed a score to Nosferatu in Williamson Park, return to The Dukes with their new work accompanying Sunrise (U) next Thursday.

Two days later, Martyn Stringer will perform a score he’s also composed to accompany Sherlock Jr (PG).

Sunrise, made in 1927, tells the tale of a country lad who becomes involved with a seductive city girl who tries to convince him murdering his wife will solve all their problems.

Sherlock Jr is one of Buster Keaton’s best loved films, a non-stop collection of gags and stunts where a cinema projectionist dozes off and finds himself playing the detective in a mystery movie.
