FROM playing guitar in a band with Tony Blair and editing irreverent pop mag Smash Hits to being served champagne by Rihanna, Mark Ellen has surfed the rock and roll wave.
Now the rock writer who started out reviewing gigs for the New Musical Express in the 70s will share his memoirs for a special one-off evening at the Clitheroe Grand.
Ellen was camped in the studio when Band Aid recorded the charity single Do They Know It’s Christmas? and has even been rambling in the Lake District with rock god Jimmy Page. His mad-cap encounters with household names are all in a day’s work and he will be talking about his colourful life on October 14
Gossipy tidbits related in the show come from the courts of Rod Stewart, Morrissey and Mick Jagger.
Ellen said: “Everything about Morrissey was so thought through, and it made the world a better place to have people like that around.”
