Moore and Smalley Palace Shield Premier Division
Having skittled their opponents for 100, they raced to their target with 20 overs in hand for the loss of one wicket.
The damage was done through a costly collapse which saw Penwortham lose their last seven wickets for only 24 runs.
After the early departure of Paul Goodwin (0), Jack Aspden (20) and Alex Unsworth (6) consolidated until both men were dismissed, leaving Penwortham 32-3.
Jonathon Hothersall (27) and Adam Gray added 44 for the fourth wicket but Hothersall’s dismissal began Penwortham’s slump.
Having reached 85-4, the next four wickets fell without further score as Mason accounted for Andrew Tobutt (7), Tom Nowlan (0) and Jack Armer (0), while Rory McDowell picked up the wicket of Gray (14).
Neil Patel (9) and Thomas Wilson (2) were the last men out, the latter becoming Mason’s fifth as he recorded figures of 5-34.
Ian Simpson weighed in with 3-22, while the other wickets went to McDowell (1-19) and Matt Greenall (1-20).
Any hopes Penwortham might have had of an unlikely victory were effectively ended by an opening stand of 78 in Longridge’s reply.
That was ended when James Whitehead (34) was caught by Tobutt off Hothersall but Daniel Wilkinson Jnr (47 not out) and James Fairclough (9 not out) saw Longridge to victory.
