Longridge Golf Club’s Junior Captain Alex Forrest has certainly started the 2015 golf season in great style with a mixture of team and individual success.

Playing for Lancashire Ladies in the season-opening “Lads v Lasses” match, 17 year old Alex and her partner Lee Dawson won their pairs game by 2 and 1 before she dispatched her singles opponent by 6 and 4 – contributing two valuable points as the Lasses won a close match at Ormskirk Golf Club.

Then representing Lancashire Ladies against a Veterans team at Hesketh Golf Club, Alex again won her pairs game, which was highlighted by her first hole-in-one when she aced the 143 yards fourth hole using a nine iron.

Entering the prestigious 36 hole Formby Leveret played on the Ladies Course at Formby Golf Club, Alex played her best ever round of one over par 72 to lead a quality field of 55 players after the first round. Perhaps the excitement of leading resulted in her second round of 82, but that’s all part of learning how to win. Her final placing of twelfth was a fine achievement.

With further events in her diary, Alex will surely continue to reduce her current playing handicap of 5 in the coming months.
