A party of now fewer than 30 Longridge Cricket Club members descended on Preston Guild Hall for the 2015 Preston Sports Awards, after the U11’s were nominated for the “Team Performance of the Year” award, following their exploits of the 2014 season.

Up against tough competition from a variety of other sporting teams, the judges, fronted by Olympian Gail Emms, decided that the outstanding achievements of the boys’ unbeaten 27 game season, culminating in two league titles and the much sought after Lancashire County title was deserving of the award, much to delight of those in attendance and the many more whowere left clutching our phones elsewhere throughout the evening, awaiting the news.

“Immaculately presented in their LCC Club ties, the boys were a credit to the club as they gathered on the stage to collect their award, capping a fantastic 12 months for the group and the club,” said a club spokesperson.
