Longridge Town boss Lee Ashcroft has lined up seven friendlies for his side ahead of the new West Lancashire League Premier Division season.
Town return to pre-season training on Tuesday, June 28 as they begin an attempt to better last season’s record-breaking campaign at the Mike Riding Ground.
Despite a six-point deduction, Ashcroft’s side finished fourth in the league, set a record points tally of 60 and saw Brad Carsley finish as the league’s top scorer with 40 goals to his name.
Pre-season matches begin with a trip to Leyland United on July 9, followed by a home match with Fleetwood Town on six days later.
Two days later is a home game against a Preston North End ‘Legends’ team with another home game against Kendal Town on July 19.
Four days later and Town travel to Holker OB, followed by matches at Charnock Richard (July 26) and Shevington (July 30).
An eighth game may be in the offing but nothing has been confirmed as yet.
“It’s important we do the right work before the season starts,” Ashcroft said.
“You can do all the running in the world but you only get match fitness by playing games of football.”
The standout fixtures are those against League One side Fleetwood and the PNE legends.
Some familiar faces will be in action with the manager hoping they will entice supporters along.
“Sean Gregan, Paul McKenna and David Lucas are all playing and it should be a good legends team,” Ashcroft said.
“We want to get as many through the turnstiles as we can, while hopefully Fleetwood will also bring a strong team.”
