Longridge Town Juniors are celebrating yet again with news that one of their own has been selected to join the academy set up at Preston North End.
Finlay Cross-Adair, who lives in Longridge, is set to tread in the footsteps of Finney, Shankly and Kelly after he was signed up to join the Under 10s academy squad at PNE.
He’s absolutely turbo chargedJeremy Riding
It is a massive boost for the club, which was only founded in 2000 and boasts a membership of 135 children, ranging from ages 6 through to 18.
The club over the last 15 years has produced a number of academy and professional signings, most notably Will Hayhurst who played for Longridge from the age of seven until 15 before signing for PNE and then moving on to Notts County.
Others include Henry Cameron, who was signed by Blackpool in 2008 and now plays for the first team, and Thea Mallet, who signed for Blackburn in 2010, and now plays for Manchester City Ladies.
Other signings include Scot Craven (Blackpool 2005), Sam Isherwood and Jake Higham (Blackpool 2008), Alex Mason (Blackpool 2009), Saul Hamer (Bolton 2010) and Rheece Rhodes (Accrington Stanley 2011).
Finlay started his football career at Longridge Town Juniors and played there for five years before progressing to an older age group with Longsands Lynx U11s.
Manager of Longridge Town U10s Jeremy Riding is thrilled with the news. “It’s brilliant news for everyone. He’s got all the necessary skills but I would say his biggest strength is his pace. He’s absolutely turbo charged and had to leave my age group as he was too strong and quick.”
Jeremy added: “ I think he has a great chance.
“He was such a natural tackler at the age of four and I’ve noticed further improvements since he has started playing the nine a side game.
“I’m absolutely delighted for his family and in particular his dad Mick who is a staunch PNE fan.”
The club is looking to continue this success, and anybody who is interested in joining the club, whether playing or coaching is asked to contact Dave Ellis on 07832 115831
