The third annual Whittingham Beer and Sausage Festival promises to break all records.

The Rotary Club of Longridge and North Preston and Whittingham Social Club is once again working in partnership to host the Whittingham Beer and Sausage Festival and this year’s event is set to be bigger and better than ever with around 50 hand pulled cask beers, gourmet ciders and a large selection of sausages.

Up to 4,000 people are expected to attend the festival which starts on Friday, May 1 from 7-11pm and and will run from 1-11pm on Saturday and Sunday May 2 and 3.

Due to the festival’s popularity the club has booked five of the north west’s top bands, starting with “The Bogtrotters” from Warrington on the Friday. On the Saturday afternoon Blackpool band “On the Edge” will perform and in the evening, back due to popular demand and also from Blackpool, will be “The Heat”. On Sunday afternoon it is Preston’s own Queen Tribute Band “Queenesque” and in the evening, to close the festival, the Cavern Club’s resident band, “The Rockits”.

Entry is £5, allowing access for the entire weekend.

From funds raised at last year’s event the club has constructed a bridge at St Catherine’s Hospice to allow visitors safer access from the car park - to be lowered into place just after the festival - and placements for disabled teenagers to attend the Calvert Trust outward bound centre at Keswick, as well as supporting many other worthy causes.

Thanks go to all who have already sponsored the event so far and if anyone elses is interested please ring Jack Giddins on 07974113061.
