A top Ribble Valley hotel and restaurant swung to victory, clinching a top gong in the prestigious Stars in Tourism Awards.
The Gibbon Bridge won the Team Excellence in Customer Care award at the annual Ribble Valley Tourism Association event, which honours the region’s best talent, innovation and success of enterprises such as restaurants, hotel and attractions.
Janet Simpson, owner of the Gibbon Bridge, just outside Chipping, and events manager Edward Walmsley were presented with the award by Amanda Dowson, chairman of the RVA.
She said: “The atmosphere was absolutely electric this year. Unlike many awards, the Stars in Tourism celebrate the team effort behind businesses in the hospitality industry.
“I was really pleased to be nominated and ultimately winning in what was a very competitive category. Over the years, we have watched the venue grow from a restaurant with bedrooms into an award-winning 30-bed, four-star hotel. It is the consistency and excellence of customer care, coupled with the feeling of being part of a family that makes Gibbon Bridge such a special place to visit.
“I’m grateful for the people who nominated us for this award. Many of our team were here at the beginning, 34 years ago and in that way we are very much a family.
“The place started off as my family home, and the business and the guests, the team and the business has grown together over the past three decades.”
