Villagers are fighting on in a valiant bid to win back their one and only bus service after it was axed in a round of savage budget cuts by Lancashire County Council.
A mass protest meeting is due to take place tomorrow night with the aim of getting every single resident in Sabden to attend. And a petition calling for the return of the service has been launched on Facebook.
Coun. Ricky Newmark said he was also due to meet with Transdev to look at any possibility of putting the village back on a bus route with a reduced service that covers at least peak morning and evening slots.
He said: “We are also looking at the possibility of a coach service to take the 20 plus students we have in the village who need to get to various sixth form colleges and universities.
“We have so many people affected by this, sheltered accommodation residents who cannot drive who are considering moving out of the village.”
The parish council has also met to discuss the idea of launching a community bus with volunteer drivers.
