With just a fortnight to go until Clitheroe Food Festival, which is being staged on Saturday, August 8th, from 9 am – 4-30 pm, details about road closures and other useful advice has been revealed.
Firstly tickets are still available online at www.clitheroefoodfestival.co.uk. If there are tickets remaining for sale on the day, these will be available on the doors.
During the festival, visitors travelling by car are urged to use the Park and Ride which will be open from 9 am until 5 pm with kind permission from Clitheroe Auction Market. The festival team and marshalls from Ribble Valley Borough Council will be on hand signposting travellers to the Park and Ride before they get into the town. Meanwhile, Clitheroe Market car park will require clearing by 4 pm on Thursday, August 6th, at the latest and notices will be in place at the pay and display machines to remind users.
On festival day itself, Castle Street, King Street, King Lane, Market Place, New Market Street through to Parson Lane will be closed to traffic from 6 am until 6 pm.
Road closures will commence at approximately 1-45 pm on Friday August 7th on King Street to prevent access to Market Place. This will mean vehicles will not be able to drive up King Street from mid-afternoon.
A fun fair on Clitheroe Castle field will open on the evening of Friday August 7th, weather permitting.
The festival is heavily reliant on the generosity of willing volunteers who become “Friends of the Festival”. Anyone aged 16 or over who would like to become a volunteer should contact Tom.Pridmore@ribblevalley.gov.uk or call RVBC on 01200 425111 and ask for Tom or one of his team. The festival team wish to thank everyone who supports the event.
