Major traffic disruption was caused in Longridge, near Preston, tonight after a road accident.
Emergency services were called to Preston Road this evening after a “serious” road accident.
Police said part of the road was closed and was expected to remain shut until around 9pm.
There was major congestion in the area between Grimsargh and Longridge after the two-vehicle crash.
Police tweeted: “Please avoid the area.
“Brabiner Lane is also becoming gridlocked due to traffic trying to get to and from Longridge around the scene.”
One motorist said: “Everything is at a standstill. Nothing is moving around here.”
No further details have been released.
In an earlier incident, two vehicles collided in Watery Lane, Preston, at around 3.50pm..
Emergency services were at the scene and diversions were put in place.
Traffic was being diverted away from Watery Lane and onto the docks as the incident was being dealt with.
It is understood at least one person was injured.
The road was later reopened.
