A spike in visitors to the Ribble Valley has been reported thanks to next week’s Tour of Britain with holiday bookings up by 100%.

Statistics from the property letting specialist holiday.cottages.co.uk report that searches for holidays in the area have increased by 22.3% and bookings are up by a whopping 112% for the month.

Clitheroe is the starting point for the event which starts on Monday, September 7th and the fact that top riders such as Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish are coming to the area has put the Ribble Valley on the map as a holiday destination.

The company has also reported a 69% increase in short breaks compared to last year, with long weekend breaks catering for bike riding enthusiasts proving the most popular.
