A Ribble Valley restaurant has been named as top employer at an annual awards ceremony.
Award-winning Northcote Leisure Group took home the accolade of Apprentice Employer of the Year at Blackburn College’s Apprenticeship and Employer Awards.
The college said they were privileged to have Michelin starred restaurant Northcote, voted the UK’s best Restaurant outside London, as educational partner.
Paul Sharples, Industry Links Manager at Blackburn College, said: “Northcote is equally as passionate about the development and their future workforce as it is about creating the perfect dining experience at its restaurant.
“The team at Northcote give their time and talent in abundance and Blackburn College is delighted to announce them as 2016 Employer of the Year.”
The company provides a range of opportunities for ambitious students. As well as offering over 20 apprenticeships in their business, Northcote works in partnership with Blackburn College to deliver a scholarship programme for talented Catering and Hospitality students, including masterclasses and the chance to work with world renowned chefs.
Craig Jackson, Northcote’s general manager, said: “We have been working with Blackburn College for the past few years and we are really pleased with the quality of apprentices and tutorage offered at Blackburn College. As a group we have been constantly growing our scope to increase the number of apprentices we take on.”
A total of 12 apprentices and 23 employers were presented with certificates in: sport; health and social care; childcare; hairdressing and beauty therapy; catering and hospitality; construction and engineering; business, law and accounting; computing and IT; textile and apparel; motor vehicle and business and supporting teaching and learning.
