Flooding at Edisford left several motorists stranded this morning.

Police were called to assist drivers through the flood water caused by several hours of heavy rainfall on Monday evening.

One woman motorist had stalled her car in deep water and was distressed at the side of the road when officers arrived to assist her.

A police spokesman said: “She was hesitant to drive her vehicle through the flood water so we did that for her to help her on her way.

“We helped other drivers who had also become stranded in the water.’’

The unexpected heavy rain stopped at around 11am and the flood water soon subsided. More rain and frost has been forecast for tomorrow.
