A well-used village play area will close next month in order to replace its safe surfaces.

Grindleton Recreation Ground Charity has announced it will be replacing all of the safe surfaces under the equipment in the popular children’s play area.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “We are very grateful for the grants which we have received from Tarmac, Ribble Valley Borough Council, The Craven Trust and Grindleton Parish Council towards this project.”

He continued: “These grants are in addition to funds which have been raised at a variety of fundraising events which have been very well supported and we are appreciative.”

The children’s play area is due to be closed from Tuesday, May 3rd and it is hoped this closure will only last for a period of two to three weeks.

How long the play area is closed for will depend on the condition of the equipment below ground level.

The tennis court/multi-use games area will still be available during this time and can be accessed from the football pitch end.
