A LONGRIDGE DJ is to star alongside music legend Tim Burgess at a club night in Preston next month.
Ben Calvert is appearing at the DJ night at the Mill on December 11 along with Burgess, lead singer with The Charlatans, and Jonathan Sutcliffe of up-and-coming indie band The Ruling Class.
Ben recently decided to get involved in organising a club night in Preston and this is the first time he has been involved in setting up and promoting a commercial event.
He said: ''It promises to be a big night.
"This is hopefully going to be a very high profile event with good crowds."
Ben, 35, started out as a DJ on a casual basis in the late 90s, owing mainly to the fact that he was guitarist in the band The 104's and the equipment was available.
He said: "Ever since my earliest memories I have been very passionate about music and as a result became hooked on DJing very quickly."
However, many will remember Ben for another interest – as a rally driver.
He says that it was because of his rallying commitments from 2001 until 2005 that he was unable to commit as much time to DJing as he would have liked.
But in June 2006 he decided to start a small business called Total Entertainment Solutions with the idea of providing all aspects of entertainment to customers from venue to catering as well as DJs and bands.
"This has been going well over the last three years and we now have many regular bookings in and around the Preston area," says Ben.
l Tickets, costing 7, are available at themillpreston.co.uk, Action Records in Preston and The Towneley Arms, Longridge, and The Weavers Arms, Longridge.
