Pupils at St James’ CE Primary School in Clitheroe performed “Ned’s Christmas Discovery” as their Christmas school nativity.
All the Early Years’ Foundation Stage children and Key Stage One pupils took part in the performances, one which was performed in the afternoon and a further performance in the evening, which was open to all parents and carers of the children taking part.
The play told the story of Ned the Donkey who after being asked to take part in a Christmas nativity becomes inquisitive to discover the true meaning of Christmas.
Ned’s search takes him on an entertaining road of discovery through the hustle and bustle of a busy kitchen preparing Christmas dinner, a visit to a toy shop and an encounter with Santa and his reindeer.
His search eventually leads him to a church door where a nativity play is being rehearsed, the one he had been asked to take part in.
As the timeless story of Christ’s birth unfolds through the play, Ned’s questions are answered, for now he has discovered the reason for the season: the birth of baby Jesus.
