Sustained heavy rainfall is once again causing flooding problems throughout Lancashire.
Firefighters have been called to pump water from areas including Blackpool Road in Preston, Samaritan Fold in Ribchester, Earl Street in Lancaster, Kings Walk, Thornton Cleveleys.
British Transport Police are also reporting that three people have been rescued from a car stuck in flood water under Waddington Bridge near Clitheroe.
Public transport is also being affected. The Preston Bus service 80 has been suspended indefinately due to flooding on roads in Great Eccleston and Elswick and Northern Rail services between Blackburn and Clitheroe are blocked because of flooding.
The majority of today’s flooding problems appear to be in the East Lancashire area, such as Nelson and Waddington.
The MET office is warning of heavy rain and gale force winds until 8pm on Saturday, but an earlier warning about snow has been withdrawn.
The Environment Agency has not issued any weather warnings for the central or northern areas of Lancashire.
River levels are expected to reach a peak around 5pm.
