PLANS to build 28 shepherd huts, a treehouse and a play area within the grounds of Samlesbury Hall are recommended for approval when they go before South Ribble Council’s planning committee on Wednesday.

Site bosses say the development is key to generating additional revenue to sustain the Hall, and the hut ‘hamlet’ would be built on golf course grounds, which have become unsustainable.

Neighbours have expressed concerns over the size of the development as well as privacy, noise and security fears.

Samlesbury and Cuerdale Parish Council have also objected, claiming the scheme is out of character with the Grade I listed building.
