Traders from Clitheroe Market will again serve regular shoppers and visitors with food for thought come the town’s annual food festival on Saturday, August 13th, by repeating an act of generosity.
For on what will be one of their busiest trading days of the year, they are providing Rosemere Cancer Foundation with a stall as they have at previous food festivals so that volunteers for the charity can stand among them to raise both awareness of Rosemere and funds to support its work.
In addition, traders are supplying prizes for a fundraising tombola, which will be one of a variety of fun games on the Rosemere stall. Trader Pete Gainsley, of the travel accessories cabin Sampan and Castle Street’s Purdie Oak store is also donating a set of luggage worth £150 as the star prize in a fundraising raffle. Tickets are available now from Pete and will be sold on the day at £1 per strip.
Rosemere Cancer Foundation strives to bring world class cancer treatments and services to local cancer patients throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria via their local hospitals and the region’s three specialist treatment centres.
These specialist centres are the Rosemere Cancer Centre at the Royal Preston Hospital, Blackpool Victoria Hospital for blood cancers and the Royal Blackburn for liver cancers.
It spends the donations it receives on vital equipment, research and training that cannot be funded by the NHS. The charity also funds those things that can make the cancer journey a little more comfortable such as free access to complementary therapies for all newly diagnosed patients.
