Young people from across Lancashire recently took part in a team ‘It’s a Knockout’ style tournament with the “Ribble Valley Massive” team coming second overall.
The Lancashire Summer Challenge 2015 event, supported by Lancashire County Council’s Wellbeing, Prevention and Early Help Young People’s Service, and organised by the Lancashire Association of Boys and Girls Clubs (LABGC), was held at the University of Cumbria in Lancaster.
The event was a partnership between Lancashire County Council and the voluntary organisations involved to build on and to develop working relationships for the future.
14 teams of young people between the ages of 12 and 19 were chosen to take part from youth clubs and youth councils across the North West, with teams competing to win trophies and the honour of being the overall winner.
The teams represented all of the 12 Lancashire districts – Blackburn YMCA, and the Youth Zones from Blackburn and Wigan.
All of the teams played against each other in six activities followed by a final challenge. The activities included a foam pit and a cannon run and teams had an optional ‘joker’ to play allowing double points to be awarded for a particular game.
The four teams with the most points, Chorley, Ribble Valley, Wyre and Blackburn YMCA competed against each other in the final, with the Chorley Cobras team clinching first place with a slim time difference of one second on the Ribble Valley Massive.
