After the great success of last year, the new committee is eager to ensure Grimsargh Field Day 2015 is, to quote chairman Keith Middlebrough, “bigger and better than ever.”

The date of field day is Saturday, June 27, and the new committee is busy planning lots of new attractions and events, but, of course, needs everyone’s help to make this happen.

Members are keen to book as many stalls as possible and the theme for this year’s scarecrow competition of nursery rhyme or comic book characters is already chosen.

The rose queen selection will take place soon and forms will be available from Grimsargh Post Office amd St Michael’s and Alston Lane primary schools and this year it is also hoped to bring back as many former rose queens as possible to walk in the procession.

Essential fund raising events include a Rivington Pike to Grimsargh Sponsored Walk led by Simon Eason on Sunday, May 3, to be rounded off by a Jacob’s Join. In the past this day has been hugely enjoyable and the young and “not so young” are encouraged to take part.

There will also be another children’s bike ride at Cow Hill on Sunday, May 17 which has proved a great success in previous years and it is hoped as many children as possible will try and complete as many laps as possible.

There will be a Band Night on Saturday, July 4, at the village hall and the famous Grimsargh Ball will be held on Saturday, September 19 at The New Drop with transport to and from the venue - so please keep both dates free.
