A mother has questioned the care provided by a hospital where her son, who had mental health issues, was found hanging.

An inquest into the death of Jonathan Keith Davies (39) was resumed today (Wednesday) by Senior Coroner for Blackburn, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Mr Michael Singleton.

Mr Davies, who was a patient at Kemple View hospital, Langho, and originally from Manchester, died on September 18th, 2013 at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, where he was taken for emergency treatment on September 15th.

The hospital, owned by the Partnerships in Care group, was represented at the inquest by their solicitor. The jury heard an opening statement from the coroner who also read a statement from Mr Davies’ mother, Diana Davies.

In her statement, Mrs Davies provided a detailed account of the period leading up to her son’s death and expressed concerns at his distress regarding his deteriorating condition and aspects of his treatment at the hospital.
