Last month, Longridge Weight Watchers Leader Claire Anderson had an idea and asked her members to write down their favourite soup recipes.
Claire had decided to compile all the members’ favourite recipes into a booklet and then sell them for £1 each in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice.
She said: “As Weight Watcher members we eat a lot of soup. Generally soup is a great way to fill yourself up and keep you fuller for longer.
“It’s especially useful this time of year when the weather is cold and dreary and there’s nothing better than coming home to a big bowl of warming soup.”
At first Claire only ordered 100 copies, but these sold out in the first 48 hours so she had to order more and now they have sold nearly 300.
“All the money will go to St Catherine’s because a friend has very kindly donated all the printing,” said Claire, adding that she will has a few booklets left to sell, so if you’d like to order one, please email her at email@example.com.
Claire’s Weight Watchers classes continue to go from strength to strength.
Her new class class at Grimsargh on a Wednesday morning now has a dedicated group of regular members who have lost 240lbs in their first eight weeks and to help cope with demand in Longridge, Claire is starting a new 8.30am weigh-in only class on Thursday mornings in the Over 60s Club from January 2016.
Claire added: “We have some new, exciting updates to the programme coming the week commencing December 6, so I’m expecting to see even more success, I can’t wait!”
She has been a leader in Longridge for eight years, and based on her yearly averages believes nearly 6,000 stones have been lost by members.
