More than 100 guests attended the summer lunch of Ribble Valley Macmillan Cancer Support “100 Club” at Mitton Hall and raised thousands for charity. 106 members and guests attended.
The guest speaker at the lunch, to which 106 guest attended, was Ribble Valley butcher Roy Porter. Roy has been a butcher all his working life and the enduring interest and enthusiasm for his work really came through in his talk, which was very well received by all those present.
At the lunch, the committee received numerous donations and with the proceeds from the lunch, the raffle, a recent coffee morning of £1,400 plus a collection at Booths of £1,300, the total received was more than £12,400.
Among the donations received was a cheque for £530 from Debbie and Martin Procter who had worked with Martin Lions in raising money in memory of young man, Slava, who had died from cancer. The committee is very grateful for Martin’s continued support for Macmillan over the last 10 years.
The committee would like to thank all the members for their generous support and for the continued support of local businesses and Ribble Valley residents generally.
