Patients, volunteers and staff at East Lancashire Hospice were delighted to welcome Ribble Valley Mayor, Coun. Joyce Holgate.
It was her first visit since 2002 during her first stint as civic head. Coun. Holgate took time to speak to patients and take a tour of the hospice with Chairman of the Trustees Mr Graham Parr and Chief Executive Lyn Stevenson.
Coun. Holgate said, “I was very pleased to get the chance to meet the patients and to see the changes that have been made to the hospice since my last visit. It’s a wonderful place and I would encourage the community to support this worthwhile cause as it can only provide this service with donations from local people.”
Mrs Stevenson said:“It was a pleasure to welcome The Ribble Valley Mayor and we are grateful that she will relay the message in the community that although the hospice is based in Blackburn we are here for the people of the Ribble Valley also, whether they come to us or we go to them.
“The hospice makes a huge difference at a time when it is needed and we would encourage people with a life limiting illness to talk to their GP to ask how the hospice can help them, or to pick up the telephone to contact us themselves on 01254 287008.”
