A recent school day started extra early for pupils of St Joseph’s RC Primary School, Hurst Green who arrived at 8.15am with family members for a Fairtrade breakfast.
Luckily, staff were there even earlier and ready to serve muffins and hot cross buns using Fairtrade ingredients and Fairtrade muesli, washed down with Fairtrade drinks.
The school has supported Fairtrade for the last three years through drinks in the staffroom.
Also, the school supported fair prices for British farmers and all milk was fair price milk and all butter from British farms.
Breakfast was a complete sell-out with just a few bananas left by 9am and it is hoped this will become a more regular event.
