Firefighters cut the roof off a car to rescue a man following an accident earlier today at Langho.

Paramedics, fire crews and police officers attended the accident at the slip road off the A59 roundabout at the junction of Northcote Road and Longsight Road, Langho, at just after 10 am this morning.

The man in the Peugeot car was complaining of neck and back pain to paramedics who subsequently asked fire crews from Blackburn and Hyndburn to remove him from the car. They used hydraulic equipment to cut the roof off the car in order to rescue the casualty who was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The slip road was closed for around three quarters of an hour while it was cleared and the police carried out their investigations.
