Do you remember spending lazy, fun filled days and evenings at a Longridge coffee bar in the 1960s?
If so, then organisers of the second reunion for former customers at the The Brief Encounter coffee bar would like to see you this weekend.
Betty Welch (nee Seed) and Pat Cook (nee Brown) and friends are organising the re-union at St Wilfrid’s Club, off Derby Road, Longridge, from 7.30pm this Saturday, February 8.
Such was the success of the first reunion, held almost 12 years ago in 2002, organisers say it is back by popular demand after friends asked for another.
Betty explains that as teenagers, if The Brief Encounter –situated at the corner of Derby Road and Berry Lane – was open, she and many others would be there!
It was not only a meeting point for Longridge teenagers, but many would travel in from the surrounding villages to congregate at the bar.
Betty said: “Any profit from Saturday’s event will be donated to Sue Ryder Care in memory of our dear friend Anthony Coolican, who was cared for in one of the charity’s homes.”
Tickets for Saturday’s event, priced at £6 and including a hot pot supper, are available from Betty on 01772 784482 or Pat on 01772 785578.
