A Hurst Green pre-school was celebrating after OFSTED judged it to be outstanding across the board.
Inspectors who visited St Joseph’s Pre-School were full of praise for both staff and pupils. Teachers were described as being highly skilled and motivated, providing children with an excellent range of challenging and fun learning experiences.
The school, which has just 13 pupils, was described as stimulating and welcoming and the children were viewed as being extremely happy, interested, self assured confident and settled. Inspectors said they have strong attachments to staff who are caring and attentive to their individual needs which meant the children were able to explore the environment with confidence and they are emotionally secure. The children develop their early reading and writing skills exceptionally well thanks to the excellent knowledge staff have of how children learn and the report pointed out that the school provides and outstanding range of learning opportunities.
Inspectors said the monitoring of children’s development was very thorough and individual progress was tracked to identify any gaps in learning.
The report described the management team as highly qualified but also demonstrating a significant capacity for improvement. Inspectors also praised them for having a clear understanding of and commitment to meeting the requirements of the Early Years Foundation stage.
Excellent communication and access to activities within the school ensured the children are well prepared for their move onto school. Partnerships with parents, carers and other agencies and the host school were found to be excellent.
Parents are highly involved in their child’s learning and care and the effective exchange of information ensures that children’s individuals needs are quickly identified and exceptionally well met.
