The public are invited to one of Clitheroe’s most historic events next week... the annual meeting of Clitheroe Town Council and the Mayor Making ceremony next Tuesday, May 3rd, starting at noon.
At 11-45 am members of the town council will leave to process to the Moot Hall via Church Street, Wellgate, Lowergate, King Lane, Market Place and then back again to Church Street.
Then at 12-45 pm the civic party and guests will leave to process to St Mary’s Parish Centre via Church Street, York Street, Well Terrace, Church Brow and Church Street.
During the annual meeting, the new Town Mayor and Deputy Town Mayor will be appointed for the next municipal year.
The current Clitheroe Town Mayor is Coun. Sue Knox, supported by her husband Allan who is the mayor’s consort, and the Deputy Town Mayor is Coun. Mark French.
During this historic occasion the processions will be led by the Halberdiers and the Town Sergeant.
