Clitheroe man (51) in court on ‘weapon’ charge

A Clitheroe man accused of early hours trouble on a road in the town appeared before Burnley magistrates.

Stephen Burgess (51), of Hereford Drive, is charged with possessing an offensive weapon in public - copper piping on Highfield Road, on November 29th.

He also faces an allegation of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour on the same date.

The defendant will have his case heard at the crown court.

He was bailed until January 18th, on condition he does not enter Highfield Road.
