A popular cider and sausage festival will go ahead in tribute to the man behind it, who sadly died in May after a short battle with cancer.
Mick Creighton set up Dove Syke nursery in West Bradford with wife Jo, with the couple soon turning their hand to cider production. The result was their popular and award winning brews being sold on a large scale, both locally and nationally.
The family held an annual festival at the nursery which became popular with cider-lovers near and far, and featured live music and local bands.
Jo at first thought it was unlikely that the festival would be able to go ahead again without its main man.
She said: “I wasn’t sure what to do, but then a few of the bands and singers who have played at previous festivals got in touch to say they would like to come and play again in Mick’s memory.
“We thought it was a lovely gesture and a good way to raise money for cancer charities at the same time.”
l The Dove Syke Sausage and Cider Festival is on Saturday from noon to 11 pm. There will be live bands, a cider and real ale bar and camping available. Money raised will be split among local and national cancer charities.
