Anyone keen to become involved with Clitheroe Chamber of Trade and Commerce is invited to its 89th Annual General Meeting later this month.
The AGM will be held on Tuesday March 15th at the Swan and Royal Hotel, Castle Street, at 5-45 pm and will provide an ideal opportunity for all current, new and prospective members to find out what the chamber has planned for the next 12 months.
As some posts are also open on the chamber’s executive committee, the meeting is open to anyone wishing to bring forward new initiatives or wanting to be more involved in how the chamber is run.
Membership is open to any business, no matter how large, or small, that is based within five miles of Clitheroe, with membership offering a number of positive benefits.
Current president Daniel Williams, of Sawley Studios, said: “Clitheroe as a business location, and in particular the chamber, has had an exciting and influential 12 months and we really want to build on that again this year. We want to continue engaging with all existing and new members and would welcome anyone interested in what we do to join us at our AGM.”
Amongst other things membership of the chamber includes affiliation to East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce at no further cost, with access to its legal advice, training plus advice on increasing sales and improving profits. The chamber is also involved in lobbying at both local and regional council level and runs a number of education evenings throughout the year with the next, in April, designed to help explain what every employer with one or more employee needs to implement to be compliant with Auto Enrolment Workplace Pensions which becomes mandatory later this year.
Clitheroe Chamber is a voluntary organisation and, amongst other things, is responsible for the flags and bunting which decorate the town. It also founded Clitheroe Food Festival in 2010, organises the popular Shop Clitheroe loyalty scheme, manages the VisitClitheroe.co.uk website and organises the annual Clitheroe Christmas Festival which will this year take place over the weekend of December 2nd to 4th.
