A memorial bench for a much-loved colleague at Clitheroe police station was refurbished by friend and former PC Alison Hargreaves and moved to the front of the building to mark the 11th anniversary of her death.

PC Cate Sutcliffe (34), collapsed on duty whilst attending a routine incident in Waddington. She suffered a cerebral bleed and after lapsing into a coma, died a few days later.

A larger than life character, Cate was well-known in the Ribble Valley and further afield. She lived life to the full and the extent to which she touched people’s lives was evident in the huge outpouring of grief and countless tributes at the time of her death.

Good friend and colleague PC Cath Caton said: “Cate was renowned locally for her sense of humour, enthusiasm and true zest for life.

“ We lost a great friend and valued colleague and Cate is still very much missed by all who knew her.”
