The White Bull, Alston, is celebrating after scooping the Best Dining accolade at the Thwaites Awards for Excellence 2015.
Licensee Alex Coward reinvented the White Bull when he took over the tenancy in 2012, transforming the local pub into a popular eatery.

Judges Nicola Underwood, from Thwaites, and Craig Rawsthorne, from Total Food Services, commended Alex and his team for their locally sourced fayre.
“Alex and the team have an ethos of ‘quality above all else’ and that really shines through in their food,” said Nicola. “We were very impressed with the attention to detail that goes into every dish and the fact that absolutely everything is made on-site.”
Following a £250,000 joint investment with Thwaites, the pub has risen to the forefront of the Alston culinary scene and is much applauded for its fine dining menu. .
Alex, who recently took over the Alston Arms in Longridge, said “We see the award as recognition of all the hard work we’ve put into making the pub the success it is today. In an era of overstocked supermarkets and faceless food, we ensure that all our fayre is regionally-sourced.”
