Animal lovers and colleagues Judith Frankland and Carolyn Pooley are hoping the people of Clitheroe will get behind their crusade to help defenceless creatures.

They are holding a two day collection at the Tesco store in Duck Street and asking people to donate bedding, blankets, sheets, towels and also food that can be used at the Bleakholt animal sanctuary. The collection takes place on Friday and Saturday, September 4th and 5th and the duo, who both work as managers at the store, will be dressed as animals.

On the Saturday there will be host of attractions including face painting and a cake stall to help raise funds for the Irwell Valley based sanctuary that cares for dogs, cats, small pets and farm animals.

Devoted animal lovers, both Carolyn and Judith share their homes with a menagerie of pets, including rescue dogs, cats and rabbits. As part of a community initiative Tesco staff have carried out volunteer work at the sanctuary.
