A bull had to be humanely put down after it escaped into a public area at Gisburn Auction Mart.
The animal first escaped from the auction mart on Thursday and was eventually placed in a field after becoming agitated.
On Friday, staff at the auction mart assessed the situation with the bull and several attempts were made to move it to a more confined area.
However, the bull once again became agitated and escaped into an area where there is public access.
A spokesperson for Clitheroe Police said: “Due to the proximity of adjacent properties and facilities, along with the agitated state of the bull, a decision was made to humanely put the bull down.”
