Despite the poor summer weather, the gardeners of Ribble Valley produced a fine display for Clitheroe Garden Club’s Annual Show last month.
For the first time this year, high quality entries from the residents of Thistle Manor helped boost the many fruit, flowers, plants, vegetables, cookery, photography and handicrafts entries. There was also an amazing display of bonsais by the Accrington Bonsai Society.
The show was held at St James’ C of E Primary school in Clitheroe where the Town Mayor, Coun. Sue Knox presented the prizes. Entry to the show was free but the cost was offset by the sale of raffle tickets and refreshments with the ever popular home-made cakes.
The club now switches its attention to autumn talks at Ribblesdale Wanderers Cricket & Bowling Club in Brownlow Street. There are some changes to the published order of speakers – October 7th’s meeting will now be Michelle Martin speaking on ‘Expanding Small Gardens – The Chinese Way’ and on November 4th, Tim Smith will speak on ‘Spring Bulbs’. New members are always welcome.
