Meet tiny Annabelle Wendy Mackenzie who was one of four Christmas Day babies born at the Burnley Birth Centre.

Clitheroe mum Amy Mullins, of Beech Close, was a week overdue when she went into labour at 6-45am on Christmas morning and little Annabelle came into the world at 10-58am weighing in at a bouncing 7lb 14oz.

It was lovely to get home to spend the rest of Christmas with Joshua and see him open his presents as I was gutted to have to leave him on Christmas morning

Amy and proud new dad Jamie Mackenzie were back home with their new daughter at 6pm in time to see their son Joshua (5) open his Christmas presents.

Amy (25) who is a student at Blackburn College, said it was a Christmas dream come true. “I woke up in agony at 6-45 and we got Joshua up and took him to my granny’s before getting to hospital at 8-15.

“It was a fantastic labour and everyone was wonderful. But it was lovely to get home to spend the rest of Christmas with Joshua and see him open his presents as I was gutted to have to leave him on Christmas morning.”

Amy’s grandmother Linda Homer of Mitton View, Clitheroe, who looked after Edisford Primary School pupil Joshua, was also delighted with the special Christmas delivery.

Annabelle’s arrival followed that of little Minnie Buck from Burnley who was 13 days late when she weighed in at 7lb 13oz. at 1-55am in the early hours after mum Claire (34) went into labour at 8-30pm on Christmas Eve.

Next new mum was Marie Rayner from Rawtenstall who gave birth to a baby boy at 02-14 in the afternoon.

There was one other new mum who did not wish to be named and five babies were born at Blackburn Birth Centre to Blackburn and Darwen mums.
