Poulton Drama are making final preparations for their upcoming ‘Shakespeare with a twist’ production of Macbeth, which opens at Thornton Little Theatre next Wednesday.
Their version will be staged with a Gothic Victorian ‘steampunk’ style, the choice of director David Twizell.
I really encourage hardened Shakespeare fans, students and of course anyone new to Shakespeare to come along for an enlightening evening
He said: “Macbeth has long been one of my very favourite plays and I am so delighted to be involved with this production. I wanted it to be a little different from the norm and the steam punk influence really adds an interesting dimension.

Leading the 16 strong cast in the iconic main role, is Anthony Henry, who is a lifelong Shakespeare fan and was fortunate enough to perform with the Royal Shakespeare Company as Bottom, in last year’s touring production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, both at Blackpool and in Shakespeare’s home town of Stratford.
He added: “Performing with the RSC was a dream come true, an experience I will never forget. Now my dream continues in playing one of the most famous acting roles of all time.”
Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for students. To book, call 01253 200737 or visit www.poultondrama.co.uk.
