Following on from the success of last year’s event, there is to be a return of The Great Thornley Bake Off.

This is a chance for all the keen bakers of the area to show off their culinary talents, and help a local school in the process.

Last year’s guest judge, Helen Colley, who is the founder of Farmhouse Fare, has kindly agreed to help oversee the entries once again.

And like last year, the event is to take place at Lee House Church and gardens, Thornley, and the date is Sunday, June 1.

Organisers say this then gives everyone time on the Saturday to prepare.

There will be various classes to enter including ones for children, and the bake off will also include a cookery demonstration by Pampered Chef as well as plenty of tea homemade cakes for sale.

All proceeds will go towards the restoration of Thornley school, work on which is due to start shortly.

Entry forms will be available soon via the website along with further details about the bake off.
