As a team from North West Air Ambulance dashed to an emergency call-out, they flew over another team of 48 tractor drivers on their own mission – to raise funds for the very charity they saw flying overhead.

The Chipping Tractor Run was on its 45-mile journey, taking in Bleasdale, Brock Bottoms and Calderdale
before stopping for lunch at Lancaster Auction Mart.

The cavalcade then drove through the Trough of Bowland to Dunsop Bridge and Leagram Estate where an off-road section was enjoyed by permission of Mr Weld-Blundell and Leagram residents.

Organisers Stuart and Jayne Marginson said all who started at about 10.15am on a good dry day finished at about 5pm.

The total raised so far was £545, with further donations expected.
