Family’s delight at song success

"Christmas Time"

A couple who wrote and produced a Christmas song in aid of a Longridge school together with a group of friends calling themselves the Fylde Hillbillies say they have been overwhelmed by people’s generosity.

So much so, Tony and Dawn Mitchell say their song ‘Christmas Time’ in aid of the new mini bus fund at Hillside Specialist School for Children with Autism at Hothersall, where the Mitchell’s 10-year-old son Danny is a pupil, has raised just short of £3,000.

And they hope this total could rise to £4,000 in the coming weeks.

At the moment cash is still coming in and while the couple believe the majority of the 2,000 CDs they produced have been sold, they will not know for several weeks how much money has been raised through people downloading the song on the internet.

Singer songwriter Tony said: “It has done brilliantly, especially as we only started fundraising at the beginning of December.

“People have been really generous, not only buying the CDs and downloading, but by donating raffle and auction prizes and giving money.

“Everybody has been fantastic, they really, really have.”
